Leaders to winagain this weekend

SATURDAY was a mixed day for North West clubs in the third round of the Coca Cola Irish Junior Cup. Four sides went into the games with two winning and the other two bowing out.

Lincoln Courts continued their good form with a home win over Beragh Swifts and Foyle Wanderers had a tremendous away win at Craigavon City. Drummond lost out in a penalty shoot out away at Lisburn side Ballymacash YM, while Eglinton lost at home to St. Oliver Plunkett with the winner coming in extra time.

Back to league action this Saturday with a full programme in all three divisions.

Drummond v Lincoln Courts

Chris Moore’s side were unfortunate to lose in the Junior Cup last week but he knows that it may be a blessing in disguise as his side can now concentrate in getting league points as they have only managed eight points from the same number of games.

The Courts are certainly the form side in the Division currently in second spot they know they must keep winning and hope that leaders Maghera Strollers slip up, they should collect the points.

Prediction: Lincoln Courts.

Dungiven Res v Roe Rovers

Dungiven continue to impress with their attacking style of football, they are developing some promising young players who know doubt will move up to their intermediate side,

The Roesiders are well behind the rest of the league as regards fixtures however if they were to go on winning a run they would be up there with the leaders, this may end all square.

Prediction: Score Draw.

Newbuildings United Res v City Colts

This game should produce goals as both these side play attacking football, the home side are currently third in the table and if they can maintain that position they will consider it to have been a good season.

The visitors got a welcome win at Sion last week a result that moves them off the bottom of the table, however they have played more matches than most of the rest of the sides around them and another defeat looks likely here.

Prediction: Newbuildings United Res

Maghera Strollers v Greysteel

It has been a long while since the Maghera men led the pack and they are going to be hard to overcome, they have a settled side this season and that has been the difference, however they know that the pack are chasing.

Greysteel were without a game last Saturday they are currently fifth in the table, they are a side who will always give you a game but are maybe not strong enough to win trophies.

Prediction: Maghera Strollers.

Burndennett v Sion

This Tyrone derby will be keenly fought, the ’Dennett have struggled for the majority of this season and they sit precariously close to the bottom of the table, although they played better in last weeks defeat at Dungiven.

Sion like their opponents are blowing hot and cold, a couple of weeks ago they put up their best performance of the season in knocking Lincoln Courts out of the City Cup but it was back to normal when they lost last Saturday.

Prediction: Score Draw.
