League and Plate finalists will be known this week

THE finalists in both the League Cup and League Plate will be known at the end of this week's programme of matches.

League action takes a back seat as attention turns to the semi-finals of both competitions.

In the League Cup, the Social Club v Towers tie is fascinatingly poised at all square after the first leg in Ahoghill and Towers will have to pull a top performance out of the bag if they aren’t to relinquish their grip on the trophy, at a venue where they are traditionally given a stern examination.

The other semi appears to be more clear-cut with Services ‘A’ 22 shots up on their ‘B’ teams counterparts.

The ‘B’ team will receive a 10-shot handicap allocation but even then, it looks like too steep a hill for the third division outfit to surmount.

In the League Plate semi-finals, Eaton Park will be looking to put some indifferent home league form behind them as they entertain West Church ‘A’.

Elsewhere, second division promotion hopefuls Portglenone Community Centre will get a taste of what top-flight opposition is like when they host Old Bleach.
