Linfield arrive in Faroe Islands

LINFIELD are beginning to settle into their surroundings ahead of their Champions League second leg qualifier against B36 Torshavn on Tuesday night after arriving in the Faroe Islands this afternoon.

The 35 strong party had a two hour charter flight from Belfast and they will train at the Gundadular Stadium tonight.

Goalkeeper Alan Blayney has recovered from injury to make the trip, he missed the scoreless draw at Windsor Park last Tuesday night.

“I have a nerve problem in my back and I need to ensure that I have full flexibility in my movement. I also had a problem in my groin, a hamstring injury and an infection in my lower leg so it was a combination of things,” said Alan.

“I’m not sure at this stage if I will definitely play on Tuesday but I will see how things go at the two training sessions we have planned. If I can take part then hopefully I will make the game.”

Linfield manager David Jeffrey is confident the Blues can progress. “We are here to win and that is not being boastful,” said Jeffrey. “We will have to work very hard and take the chances that come along, but I feel we have a great chance if we perform to our best ability.”
