Linfield stars meet their fans in Ballymoney

BALLYMONEY and District Linfield Supporters’ Club held a player of the year event in Ma Kelly’s Bar Church Street Ballymoney recently.

The event was a tremendous success with around 80 people attending. The club would like to thank all those who attended on the night with special thanks to Dungannon Ladies and 1st Mid Shankill Supporters Clubs for their kind donations and also to those who attended from the following supporters clubs, 1st Mid Ulster, Raven and South Belfast Linfield Supporters Clubs.

The Ballymoney club has 33 members and has been growing year by year in recent times and regularly take around 25 to every match home and away with distance not being a problem.

A big thank you to Michael Carvill, who was presented with this Player of the Year trophy by Catherine Smyth, and William Murphy who was presented with a trophy to mark his 600 appearances for Linfield.

Also we would like to thank Robert Garrett, Jim McMinn and David Jeffrey for travelling the long distance to Ballymoney after a hard days work.

Ballymoney Chairman Rab Montgomery presented a cheque for £500 to Jim McMinn towards parent club funds in addition to sponsoring Michael Gault’s home and away shirts.

The evening was a huge success with over 80 people attending. There were speeches about the Ballymoney Club on our history by Peter Rollins and Liam Beckett BBC Personality also entertained all with his football stories.

The speeches were finished off with David Jeffrey saying a few words, a donation to Liam Beckett’s charity The Samaritans and flowers were presented to David’s partner. A buffet and disco followed.

Finally, a big thank you to Liz and the staff at Ma Kelly’s for all their hard work as well as a thank you to all our club members for their hard work in organising the event and for taking part in events throughout the evening.
