McEneff hoping to join the Elite

The midfielder along with his Northern Ireland team-mates know if they avoid defeat this evening against Mexico then they will secure the Elite section and become Milk Cup winners.

“We still need to keep our heads screwed on and go into the game with a positive mind set and obviously stay focused because it’s a big game for us.

“Everyone wants to win the Milk Cup, it’s a high profile competition and for a player to be part of it for a start is amazing but to actually win it would be just unbelievable.”

The teenager was over the moon after their win over the United States on Wednesday night and he was also delighted by the welcome he received at the Riverside Stadium.

“I want to say thanks for all the support because it was great,” he added.

“I got a good reception and even when I was coming off all the people were clamping me, so it was great coming back to ’Stute.”

McEneff, who played his part in Northern Ireland’s Elite victories over Denmark and USA, was pleased to have secured another victory at international level.

“It was our second win, it’s always good to get a victory with Northern Ireland and obviously to get three goals and to be involved in two of them, is good.”
