LISBURN JUNIOR INVITATIONAL LEAGUE

Lisburn Youth need two wins

Lisburn Youth still need two wins to clinch the under-13 section title in the Lisburn Junior Invitational League.

TW Braga took over at the top after beating Lisburn 2-1 and they have only one match to play during last week.

Lisburn Youth must beat Carrick Rangers and Lisburn Rangers Youth to take the title if Braga beat Windmill.

Youth game has instant impact in New York

The under-13 Lisburn Youth League game had an instant impact in New York.

Hassan Ayari, who scored the winning goal for TW Braga over Lisburn Youth, was unaware his mum and dad were watching the game from New York via Skype through Apple iPad.

Now that is a first for the Lisburn League and probably anywhere in Northern Ireland.

When his parents watched their son score the winner, Hassan’s mum went into labour with her third child. How many winning goals have that sort of impact?

Lisburn Rangers Youth

Monday 4th May 2015 will be a day to remember for all involved in Lisburn Rangers Football Club, at 1 o’clock the boys from Lisburn Rangers Youth will take to the field at Mid Ulster Sports Arena Cookstown to face Portadown in the final off the NIBFA Cup, an unbelievable achievement for a team who have come so far in such a short period of time. Under the guidance of coaches Brian Hamill, Colin Hamill and Drew McMaster the boys have developed together from a early age in the small sided game set up and with the addition of a few quality players the team have become a force in their first year at 11 a side, with only two defeats in all competitions. They have reached two finals, one semi final and are still in the chase for the league title all in a year of transition into 11 a side. So when the boys step off the coach on Monday morning we should all be proud that a team from the Lisburn League have reached the final of the biggest tournament in the country. The club has got behind the boys all season and are sure to bring a large travelling support to Cookstown. We know the boys will fight every minute of the game to bring the cup home and when the final whistle blows every boy should walk off that field with his head held high, it’s been a wonderful season and the future looks bright for Lisburn Rangers Youth Development.

Crewe United FC

Crewe United Football Club are pleased to announce the completion of their state of the art floodlighting project at Crewe Park. The club’s old floodlighting system was initially installed in 1989 and at that time they became the first amateur club in Ireland to have such a facility when Linfield officially opened the floodlights.

Over a 25 year period the club has been able to make great progress with their club facilities but the need for a floodlighting upgrade has been evident for some time in terms of modernising and the necessity to meet health and safety requirements.

The project has been funded by Biffa Award; a multi-million pound fund that helps to build communities and transform lives through awarding grants to community and environmental projects across the UK, as part of the Landfill Communities Fund.

The new floodlighting project will enable the club to extend the range of young people who can benefit from it in the clubs surrounding location.

Club Chairman Tom McKenna said, “we are indebted to Biffa Award for their support and it is a source of great inspiration that they so generously continue to affiliate with our aims and ambitions”.

Lisburn City Councillor and head of Leisure Services, Paul Porter, also endorses the club’s latest project: “It will be a great boost not only for the club but also for the many young people in the local satellite towns who will be able to experience training and competitive floodlight football for the first time,” he said.

Over the past few years the progressive club has welcomed International teams to Crewe Park for training prior to International fixtures and this new upgrade will in all probability see more of them make their training headquarters at this venue.

Crewe United are planning an official opening of their new floodlighting facility in coming months and are presently negotiating with professional clubs to arrange an attractive fixture.

It is anticipated that representatives from Biffa Award, Lisburn City Council, The Mid Ulster Football League and the Irish Football Association will be represented on this very special occasion.

The club wishes to put on record special thanks to Biffa Award, the main contractor Paddy Gallagher of Glenavy Electrics and the assistance of Sean Larkin from Fairstone (NI) for their support.
