Lisburn Youth

U10

A late morning kick off at Lough Moss saw Lisburn Youth match up against Andersonstown Celtic FC, with weather conditions perfect for football.

There were plenty of changes from the previous line up for Lisburn Youth as Dylan Braik returned in goal, Lewis Parker was making his first appearance for the club and James McAlister and Lucas Orr returned from their U11 duty.

Lisburn Youth started the game brightly taking the game to A’town Celtic from the off, with their high pressing and closing the ball down well. This allowed Corey Prigent and Ben Martin to see plenty of the ball early on and create waves of attacks from the young Lisburn side. Bradley Allen was providing a real handful for A’town Celtic back line, his quick turn of pace and direct runs at goal were only denied by an outstanding display from the A’town Celtic goalkeeper.

Lisburn’s first period display showed the progression by the team, with eye catching one touch passing. It was a real credit to the Lisburn players as they put their football talents on show.

The second period proved much the same as the first for Lisburn, with Lucas Orr and James McAlister’s endless runs up and down the flanks gave the side the attacking edge.

Despite Lisburn’s driving attacks A’town started to create chances of their own as they started to settle into their rhythm going forward. But with Elliot Reid who replaced the missing Matthew Porter slotted in ever so well creating a rock in the back line. His performance of breaking down the A’town play and putting Lisburn on the front foot warranted a contender for man of the match. From front to back Lisburn put in a great team display.

The final stage of the game A’town proved they were no push over shooting down hill, the momentum now in their favour they started to create a hand full of chances with mixed results. An inspired Dylan Braik and Elliot Reid held them at bay, but not even they could hold them out until the end as A’town chances came they took them very well.

All credit to Lisburn Youth and A’town Celtic for a fully entertaining game. Both sides creating and converting chances to round off some attractive football that even the adult game would have been proud of.

A great game that both sides can take positives from, onwards and upwards as next week Lisburn Youth face Crumlin Utd at Hydebank next Saturday morning 10.30am kick off.

U12

Lisburn Youth U12’s had a fantastic 2-1 win over Warrenpoint.

It was a great performance from the whole team who were losing 1 nil at half time but showed great spirit and determination to come back and win the game. Manager Anthony McLoughlin was absolutely delighted with how well the team played.
