First Lisburn came back from a goal down to beat Stranmillis II 3-1 and stay in the hunt. Mark Taylor put Stranmillis ahead from the penalty spot, but a keeper error allowed John McClelland to tap in the equaliser five minutes into the second-half.

Right back, Michael Holmes, volleyed in First’s second goal and a Luke Eastwood cross from the back post allowed Holmes to get his second goal inside two minutes.

Clonduff YM were four goals up early in the second-half but FC Utd Lisburn came back to 4-2 through Ross Phillips and Johnny Roy. Clonduff scorers were Johnny Bowes, Ryan Strachan, David Moore and Craig Martin.

Lisburn Youth

U12

The u12’s faced a potentially tricky tie against Carrick Rangers who are among the leaders in the u12 league.

Lisburn Youth in their change strip of red & white stripes had the majority of the ball but were finding it difficult to create any clear cut chances.

The breakthrough came from the usual source, Ross Hunter who like any of the great strikers poached one in the six yard box to settle the boys down.

It was soon 2-0 through Nathan Millar who finished clinically across the keeper.

The Carrick number 9 was a threat on the break. From a free kick they got themselves back into the game with a strike from the edge of the area that was just too high for Michael McEnhill in goal.

Lisburn got away with a scare and went up the park to edge further in front again when Adam Donnelly chipped the keeper with a great effort from the edge of the box.

The second half saw Lisburn Youth up the tempo, the passing was sharper and the boys were first to the ball all over the park.

Tyler Bain was excellent all game in the midfield winning possession back and getting the attacks started.

Ross Hunter won himself a penalty which he took himself and unusually for him saw the keeper save only for him to knock in the rebound. David Faulkner struck one clinically into the bottom corner before a superb team goal was scored.

It involved four or five players down the left hand side and saw one and two touch football cut through the Carrick defence before the cross was superbly tucked home by Bailey Mckeown.

Carrick then hit back for their second with a bit of a mix up in the Lisburn back four allowing their forward to poke home.

In the final 10 mins Lisburn would add another two goals.

The first of those from Justin Devlin who defied his coaches on the line who said he shouldn’t shoot as he was too far out by hitting a bullet of a free kick into the roof of the net from about 30yards.

The final goal of the game was another great team goal.

Superb play from Adam Donnelly out wide saw him beat a few defenders before crossing for Nathan Millar to slot home his second of the game.

All in all the coaches were very pleased with the performance from all the squad in an excellent win.

U13

This week the boys took on Portadown Youth in the plate following up a brilliant result in the league against Shankill.

A quick start to the game allowed Portadown a one goal lead.

Both teams had good spells but Lisburn took advantage to equalise and suddenly found themselves 2-1 in front before Portadown got back into the game with a well worked equaliser.

The momentum shifted again as Portadown went 3-2 up but Lisburn Youth didn’t give up and grabbed the equaliser before the final whistle.

And so the game entered extra time both teams pushed for the win before penalties but it was Portadown who took their chance and went 4-3 up.

Lisburn Youth’s frustration became evident when they went down to 10 men in the final moments of the game and with that their last chance disappeared

Lisburn Youth’s captain Christopher Turtle (1) and striker James Webb (2) got the goals.

A spirited performance meant that there were a lot of positives to take from a disappointing result.

U14

Lisburn Youth U14’s were well below par for much of Saturday’s game against Greenisland at Barbour.

Although they knocked the ball about well at times, they didn’t put a huge amount of pressure on the Greenisland defence.

Ross Hull eventually got the scoring underway when he swivelled on the 6 yard line and smashed the ball into the net. Lisburn went further ahead when a Greenisland defender was unable to keep Paul Hughes corner from going in.

Hughes was on hand again shortly after to put the ball away when he was left unmarked at the back post following an excellent incisive pass by Kyle Patton that freed Conaill Murray down the right to send the ball across goal.

Dominic McEnhill was a threat in behind all morning and was having a good battle with the Greenisland centre half. His hard work eventually paid off as he ran through for a one on one with the keeper who saved McEnhill’s initial shot but could do nothing about the follow up.

The 2nd half continued in the same fashion but the introduction of Caoimhin McConnell, Rhys Kelly, Caoelain Young and Lorcan McIlroy sparked life in Lisburn.

McConnell bent a free kick from outside into the top corner with his right foot.

Lorcan McIlory got on the score sheet when he side footed in a volley from Conall Smith’s cross and McIlroy was through again to finish expertly with the last kick of the game.

Good result against a physical Greenisland team. Much better to come from the young lions of Lisburn starting with this Saturday’s game against Rosario in the NIFBA Cup.

U15

Lisburn Youth u15’s faced Banbridge on Saturday and due to a number of things that were out of the management teams control, only had 11 players available.

Banbridge started the game brightly and went ahead when a cross come shot fortunately found its way into the net.

Lisburn got themselves level with a great goal from Jordan Pegg.

The match continued in this pattern with Banbridge getting in front and Lisburn coming back to equalise.

Goals from Regan McCanny, Michael Byrne and Connell Devine made the scoreline 4-4

With five minutes to go, Matthew Hall popped up with a neat header to take all 3 points.

Well done to all the lads involved for the commitment and character they showed.
