Warren were a goal down then leading 2-1 but 2-3 down before equalising only for Ballymacash to grab a late winner.

On target for the winners were Raymond Kidd, James Campbell, Gary Jess and James Thompson with Matty Patton, Craig McCutcheon and Graham Stitt replying for Warren.

Two goals from Clarke Dempster and another from Sammy Patterson gave Braniel YM a 3-0 win over Bloomfield III and Grant McPherson hit a hat-trick and Mark Coates got the other one in Lambeg Rangers’ 4-1 win over Orangefield OB III.

Work being carried out on a drain flooded the pitch after torrential rain and caused the Glaston v Ballynafeigh YM game to be abandoned after 51 minutes. Glaston were leading 4-0 through Sean Armstrong, Stevie Conlon, Jim Mullen and Alan McDonald.

Wee Whites

Whites’ Academy Round-Up

Friday’s prediction that there would be wins for all five Lisburn League teams proved to be accurate as the U16’s and U17’s reached the Shield semi-finals and the rest of the competing teams had league victories. The U16’s attempt to make it three shields in a row continued when they saw off a resolute Lower Maze side 2-0, Connor Boardman and Peter Freeland the goalscorers. Also in the Shield quarter finals goals from Chris Walmsley. Lee Newell and Scott Hunter were enough for a 3-0 victory for Sam Allen’s U17’s against Newry. Bottom club Moira were comfortably beaten 11-0 by the U12’s, there were hat-tricks for Jamie Hamilton, Jake Fairfield and Carson Elliot as well as goals for Jake Corbett and Harry Davidson. The U14’s and U15’s both had league victories as well. Jake Hull continued his fine goal scoring form for the U9’s when he netted four times in a game with Shankill Juniors, Dee Dee Rafferty also finding the net. Not surprisingly it was another high scoring affair for the U8’s against Newington, Ryan Cressey (7), Dawson Jackson (8), Brandon Wright (2) and Ben Bonar (3) getting their names on the score sheet for the very Wee Whites. Ben’s brother Jack made it two hat-tricks for the Bonar family when firing home a treble for the U10 Whites in a close game with Linfield Blues, Jonathan McCullough also found the net in this one. The U10’s had a great game with Larne Youth in which Jake Donaghy and Conall Cunningham scored superb goals.

Lisburn Youth v Portadown U13’s quarter final has been rearranged to be played before the end of November.

Many thanks to the Portadown Manager who agreed to play the game on a different date while Lisburn had so many players missing.

U14

Lisburn Youth faced their toughest test to date on Saturday in the Shield quarter final against league leaders Carrick Rangers. With the influential Conall Smyth missing, they started against the wind in the best possible fashion. Great work on the left from Ross Hull set up the busy Caoelain Young who breezed past the fullback to slot home past the keeper for 1-0.

The second came soon after when another set up from Hull was cooly finished by the dazzling Caoimhin McConnell.

Lisburn had chances to wrap up the game in the first 30 mins but failed to add to the 2 goal lead and almost paid the price when keeper Mark Wilkinson was forced into an excellent save just before the halftime whistle.

Carrick were a growing physical force and could have pulled a goal back sooner but for another great save from the Lisburn stopper.

Carrick’s pressure told just minutes from time when they got what proved to be only a consolation goal when they made it 2-1 in the dying minutes.

What should have been a comfortable victory became a pressure situation but the defence of Harry Wilson, Lee Bailie, captain Thomas McComb and Cory Mann coped with everything the big physical strike force threw at them.

Lisburn held firm to go through to the semis to play Oxford Sunnyside.

U15

After last week’s disappointment Lisburn Youth U15’s got back to winning ways with a hard fought 2-1 victory against Ridgeway in the quarter final of the Shield.

This was the 3rd meeting of the two sides already this season so both teams knew what to expect and cancelled each other out in the early stages.

Ridgeway did take the lead though when a speculative effort took a bad bounce & slipped through Eoin Barrett’s hands and into the net.

Lisburn started to produce some neat football and got on even terms through a Regan McCanny strike.

Just before the break Lisburn got their noses in front. Good work from Paul Kennedy who broke from inside his own box then played a neat one-two with Micheal Burns and supplied a great cross for Micheal Byrne to convert.

The 2nd half was nip and tuck but Lisburn came out winners and go into the semi-finals full of confidence. Well done lads!
