Local kids to strut their stuff at NI match

YOUNGSTERS from two local youth football clubs are looking foward to the chance to rub shoulders with Northern Ireland’s international stars.

Carniny Youth and Ballymena United Youth Academy will take part in the half-time display during the Northern Ireland v Azerbaijan World Cup qualifier at Windsor Park on Wednesday, November 14.

They have been invited as part of their participation in the Irish Football Association-backed ‘Teatime League’, which has been running at the Showgrounds on Friday nights in recent weeks.

Representatives of both clubs were presented with their complimentary tickets on Friday night by Mo McDowell, Primary School Coach for Ballymena.

IFA Grassroots Development Officer Wes Gregg said: “It will surely be a night to remember for the children involved.

“Being able to show off their skills in front of a packed Windsor Park will live long in the memory of some of our local talent.

“Ballymena has long been an area where local clubs have produced players that progress through their system to represent Northern Ireland at all levels and its a reward for all the efforts of coaches that they get this fantastic opportunity for the children to play a 7 v 7 game during half time at such an important game,” added Wes.
