Long and Wilson get Colts off to a winning start

Carrick Rangers Colts U13s started their NIBFA Subway National Youth League campaign with a 2-0 win against Coleraine Academy on Saturday.

After a good pre-season the Colts were excited about moving into the National League and Aaron Macfarlane, Lewis Patterson and Nicholas Mulholland in particular had a good game. New signings Sam Gillen, Aaron McNiece, Joshua Downey and Alex Tweedie were also playing well.

Midway through the second half Cameron Long pounced onto a clearance from an Owen Barrons corner and placed an excellent shot into the top left corner beyond the Coleraine keeper. With 10 minutes to go Andrew Martin sent an excellent through ball to Scott Wilson who made no mistake slotting the ball past the oncoming keeper.
