Work recently started to transform the former all-weather training site into an artificial football surface.

The area was officially opened in 1996 by the-then Northern Ireland manager Bryan Hamilton.

The floodlit facility has been home to football and hockey over the years but utilised for additional car parking space in recent seasons.

Loughgall, however, view the 3G pitch installation as a key stage of steps towards an overall upgrade of the club facility.

“We have funding to lay the 3G pitch,” said Loughgall chairman John McCann. “We hope to secure other funding for supportive infrastructure.

“It is an exciting development, with the idea to have an 11-a-side 3G pitch up-and-running by Autumn, with car parking and a changing block potential additions.

“The idea is to provide one home for football in the area and offer everything for grassroots and senior players at the same venue.

“We are pleased to be working with Clive Richardson on the project.”
