Loughlan leaves it late to win the U14s derby for Banbridge Rangers

Town Juniors U14s and Banbridge Rangers clashed for the second time in a week and produced another thrilling 2-1 scoreline - only this time it was bragging rights to Rangers after a hard fought contest.

The Juniors put Rangers under pressure right from kick off as Ruben Turner controlled midfield and the back four didn’t give Rangers a kick with some impressive tackles from Cameron Frizzel and Aaron Devlin.

The Blues found it difficult to get out of their own half with Ben Johnston proving to be the most threatening player out on the on right wing as he put in lots of crosses forcing the Rangers keeper to make a series of good saves from Ruben Turner and William Doogan keeping it at 0-0.

Town started brightest in the second half as the Gers keeper made another string of fine saves from Ben Johnston and William Doogan.

Tom Mehaffey, Ruben Turner, James Orr and Shea Winters won every 50/50 challenge and controlled midfield.

Shea Winters started to influence game with hard tackles and good passing. This pressure paid off when Town went 1-0 up seven minutes into the half when a bad clearance fell to Winters and he curled a beautiful shot first time from 30 yards into top corner for what can only be described as a wonder goal.

The Juniors were then boosted with the return of Cameron Sands who has been out with a long injury and as Town kept the pressure on Rangers, they dominated all over the pitch and almost twice doubled their lead, first with an attempt from Sands who lost his marker and ran through at pace from a through ball from Shea Winters only to be thwarted by the outstanding goalie.

Rangers started to fight their way back in with 10 minutes to go and they got an equaliser when a missed clearance fell to Jamie Berry and he confidently slotted across goal for 1-1.

Rangers won it with a minute to go as a 30 yard curler from Adam Loughlan crept into the top corner with Johnny Cartmill stranded.
