The midfielder fired home from close range on 83 minutes, however that goal didn’t tell half the story.

After taking the lead early on thanks to Ryan McBride’s fourth goal the season, the home side levelled things through Alan McNally, before they were incredibly reduced to nine men as both Peter McGlynn and Shane Grimes were sent-off either side of half-time.

Amazingly Damien Richardson’s side took the lead thanks to Michael Daly’s header, before Lowry netted Derry’s deserved equaliser seven minutes from time.

In between the goals and red cards, the visitors missed a host of chances, with Rory Patterson having one of those nightmare nights, as he failed to score on numerous occasions.

Incredibly in stoppage time the Drogs were reduced to eight men when Gavan Holohan was rightfully dismissed by referee Derek Tomney, for kicking the ball away and he picked up his second yellow card of the night.

McGlynn, Grimes and Holohan along with Gavin Brennan miss Tuesday evening’s replay, which takes place at the Brandywell (KO 7.45).

After the match Lowry spoke to Sentinel Sport’s Editor Kevin McLaughlin.
