Lowry shortlisted for coaching award

Steven Lowry from Carnmoney Ladies FC has been shortlisted in the ‘People’s Award’ category within the McDonald’s Irish FA Community Awards which provides the opportunity for the public to vote for their preferred candidate.

Now in its second year, the McDonald’s Irish FA Community Awards recognise and reward the clubs, coaches and volunteers that make outstanding contributions to grassroots football across Northern Ireland.

A new category - the People’s Award - has been introduced for 2012, giving members of the public the chance to select the winner through an online voting mechanic. The judging panel has listed Steven on the shortlist of candidates so local people are being urged to go online at www.irishfa.com/communityawards to cast your vote.

Steven formed Carnmoney Ladies FC having identified the potential for girls’ and women’s football in the local area. As chairman, he is the driving force behind the club and has secured over 60 female members, a management committee of parents and coaches and 10 volunteer coaches and administrators.

He has worked tirelessly over the season and established all-female teams at varying age groups. He oversees the junior teams and is directly responsible for managing the Youth and Senior teams in the Northern Ireland Women’s FA Leagues (NIWFA).
