Lurgan Blues need to be more clinical says manager Gary Hamilton

The Lurgan Blues entertain Warrenpoint Town and Hamilton is hoping his players have their shooting boots on.

“Look it has been the same old story these last few months, we create numerous clear-cut chances and don’t take them, so we need to be more clinical in front of goal,” he insisted.

“So hopefully the team as a whole can more ruthless in front of goal in the coming games.”

As for his opposite number Stephen McDonnell he’s looking for his team to bounce back from their weekend loss to Coleraine.

“It was a poor goal to concede on our behalf and if not taking the chances we create then we cannot afford to gift the opposition opportunities,” said Town boss McDonnell.

“Aaron McCarey is now off to Dundalk after Tuesday but the aim is always to plan ahead and, hopefully, we’ll have news on new additions in the next 24 or 48 hours.

“We’ve had five changes in three games so it’s about utilising our squad and keeping it fresh. Rolling into Tuesday we see it as another opportunity to get points on the board.

“For the first time since the run of defeats at the start of the season we are indifferent at the minute. There could be multiple factors but, hopefully, we can get something from the next game and any new recruits might give us extra energy.

“Maybe additional faces might add more competition and take away that comfort zone. We had a bit of swagger back against Coleraine so it was disappointing not to take anything from that game.

“But we dust ourselves down and know we are a good side, although ultimately points on the board will make a difference.

“The reality is we’ve got to look after our own situation, we’re top of that mini-league and up to us to get something out of the Glenavon game.”
