Lyndon off to Under-19 European Championships

Coleraine defender Lyndon Kane has been rewarded for an impressive season by being selected for the Northern Ireland squad for the forthcoming Elite Stage of the Under-19 European Championships.

The 19-year-old played his part in helping the side qualify for the games in Holland at the end of this month.

Brad Lyons is also on the stand-by list for the tournament with goalkeeper Chris Johns on stand-by for the Under-21s.

“It’s fantastic for the boys and just rewards for their performances so far this season,” said boss Oran Kearney.

“They have been excellent all year and are continually developing.

“Lyndon in particular is playing like he has been an Irish League player for years.

“He has been a revelation for us and fully deserves to show what he is capable of on this big stage.

“Mark Edgar has also been involved with the Under-19s, but unfortunately he has missed out as he is currently injured.

“So we could have had four guys away with the international side, which is a massive boost for the club and what we are trying to achieve here.”
