The ex-Limavady United winger played superbly with the highlight of the round being an eagle at the par 4 seventh hole.

A big drive down the middle followed by an exquisite 9 iron shot saw the ball take a few bounces and drop in the hole.

After a long season playing for Coleraine McIlmoyle can now concentrate on his golf and having a crack at the Golfer of the Year title.

Graham Forrest and Captain Neville Martin also played well with fine rounds of 41 points each with Graham just taking second place courtesy of a better back 9.

There was a 4 Ball Better Ball competition on Saturday sponsored by M&M Electrics and as always Roe Park saw a huge turnout in warm sunny conditions.

It was definitely a format that suited older and somewhat wiser heads. The deadly pairing of Derek Simpson and Joe McCloskey kept it between the hedges so to speak as they took the victory with a superb score of 43 points.

Claiming second place with 42 points was another wise pair in the shape of Robert Godfrey and Richard Hartin. Veteran campaigner and Junior Convenor Andy Dunn was partnered by Charlie Mearns as they took third place with 41 points.

Kieran Berryman is now sitting pretty at the top of the Golfer of the Year leaderboard with 55 points and a commanding lead of 15 points over second place man Andy Young on 40 points. This is certainly looking like a two horse race at the moment with the chasing pack 10 points further back. With Kieran recording consistent top three finishes with five in the last two weeks, he is now showing the form that won him the title two years previous.

The Driving Range will certainly be busier than ever as members get the practice needed as they attempt to stop Kieran lifting the coveted trophy once more.

Up next at Roe Park is an open on Friday hosted by Limavady Youths Football Club. A very popular day with members and visitors alike expect to see huge numbers challenging for the great prizes on offer.
