The Invermen booked their spot in round three of the Steel and Sons Cup with an emphatic win at Dromara Village and now Maguire, who landed a hat-trick against the Division 1A men, is optimistic the Reds can make it back-to-back wins when the Seasiders roll into town.

“There is no reason why we can’t get all three points. We are good enough and we have nothing to fear. They are a good side and among the promotion favourites but there are no easy games in this league,” he said.

“We have struggled to get results against them in the past but all the players are looking forward to the game and hopefully the home support can push us on to a win.”

Reflecting on Saturday’s success over the side perched eighth in 1A, Maguire added: “We were nearly trying too hard to score in the first half and it just wasn’t happening for us but we knew if we got one we could kill the game off.

“They did well but to be honest we should always be beating teams like Dromara comfortably.”

Asked if he had been frustrated recently with the lack of goals, he added: “Yes, it has been frustrating - more in today’s first half than the two recent league games. We have a lot of quality in the side and I think that showed once we took the lead we had goals from all over the team.”
