Manager bringsin two strikers

KEADY CELTIC 2 CRAIGAVON CITY 0

AFTER another blank day in front of goal Craigavon manager Barry Cochrane has had enough and is ready to bring in two new strikers.

The boss is hoping two have two new faces in the team within the next week or two in a bid to add more cutting edge up front.

“I told the boys that was the last straw on Saturday,” said Cochrane. “We could have and should have scored six goals but once again our finishing was terrible.

“We are playing some good football which is a joy to watch but at the end of the day we just can’t put the ball in the net.

“This was a big game for us. Keady were just above us in second place so we had the chance to go ahead of them with the win and have a game in hand. It’s very disappointing.”

To make matters worse for City the Keady first goal had a fair amount of good fortune about it when a cross from the wing beat everyone and ended up curling into the top corner of the net.

Craigavon hit back and Darragh McConville had a shot hit the post and rebound into the arms of the goalkeeper. Then Darren Martin and Mick Coleman both broke through with just the keeper to beat but on both occasions the finish was way off target.

It was much the same in the second half with City still making all the running, again Nathan Harvey had only the keeper to beat, but fired wide and then Daren Martin headed over from a mere two yards out.

As the chances kept coming and going any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Keady made it 2-0 on 80 minutes.

This week Craigavon City are home to Scarva.
