Manager issues warning to title-chasing Dollingstown

Gary Duke has warned his Dollingstown players to step up and regain focus in the wake of Saturday’s frustrating 1-1 draw.

The defending Mid-Ulster Intermediate League Section A champions have hopes of climbing the domestic ladder. Saturday’s dropped points may not significantly disrupt this season’s Mid-Ulster title bid, with Dollingstown eight points off the lead having played six fewer games than Tandragee Rovers.

However, Duke considers the result punishment for a frustrating attitude on show in recent fixtures.

“It has been coming, to be honest,” said Duke, the Dollingstown boss. “At times recently we have been poor in stages but managed to turn it around but on Saturday we could not get that second goal after Colin Cunningham’s equaliser.

“Results for Tandragee Rovers and Camlough Rovers probably helped reduce the damage but it is about our own attitude.

“If we want to move up to another level we must realise that the right attitude is crucial as mistakes will always cost higher up the divisions.”
