Mark leaves

MARK Turkington will not be a Glenavon player next season.

The 29 year-old left-back hasn’t agreed a deal to remain at the club after his contract expired at the end of the season.

Turkington made 113 appearances for Glenavon since joining from Armagh City and boss Gary Hamilton says it’s disappointing to lose him.

“I’d like to thank Mark for everything he’s done at Glenavon,” said Hamilton.

“I’m very disappointed couldn’t keep him on. He was doing really well towards the end of the season but that’s the way it goes. It’s not nice having to see him leave but that’s football and these things happen.

“We offered him the best deal we could and I understand he has to look after his business first and foremost.

“He’s just been unfortunate he didn’t get as many games as others through injury and through other boys doing well.

Hamilton also said he hopes Turkington will remain in football.

He said, “I hope Mark doesn’t give up on football. He still has a lot to offer. He’s a model pro and if any manager asked me, I’d recommend him very highly. His attitude is first class and he gives it his all.”
