Junior Division One: Central defender Dean McAllister proved to be an asset at set-pieces, when his brace from corners fired Ballyclare Comrades Reserves toa comprehensive win against Cookstown Olympic. Phil Abernethy, promoted from the Under-19s, and Jamie McTaggart also got their names on the scorecard in the 4-0 win at Threemilewater Park.

“After the festive break there was no sign of rustiness, and there were some fine individual performances,” said manager, Stephen Hughes.

Elsewhere, FC Whiteabbey kicked off 2015 with a 4-0 success at home to Mallusk Athletic.

Junior Division Two: Ballynure Old Boys ‘B’ suffered a 6-1 defeat to Sport and Leisure Swifts Reserves. There was no joy, either, for Remo FC, who were edged out 2-1 at Wakehurst Strollers.

Junior Division Three: For the second week on the spin, Carnlough Swifts suffered at high-scoring defeat. They lost 5-4 at home to Mountainview. Dylan McLaughlin, Declan McDermott, Niall Hamill (two) were on target for the Swifts, while Gareth Peoples, William Massey, Jon Madden, Gary Madden (two) found the net for the visitors.

Remo FC Reserves had no answer to Rathcoole FC Reserves’ firepower as they conceded six goals without reply. A Stephen Coppen hat-trick, a Ryan McAllister double and a goal from Adam Irwin secured a comfortable three points for the men from the Diamond.

Canada Trophy R2: With Jonny Robb and new signing Dean Meneely on song, Krag Albion got the better of Ballysillan Swifts Reserves to record a straightforward 6-0 win. In the end it was a hat-trick each for Robb and Meneely that secured their passage to the third round.
