All the goals came in the second half, with the Brandywell men taking the lead thanks to Barry McNamee’s third goal in as many games, then man of the match Ryan McBride headed home ten minutes from time before Stephen Rice netted as Rovers deservedly pulled one back right at the death, but it was a case of too little, too late for the Dubliners.

The only downside for the Candystripes was the hamstring injury, which Paddy Kavanagh picked up in the early stages of the match.
