Former Glenavon player and manager Stephen McBride has been appointed first team coach.

“I’m delighted to announce Stevie as first team coach,” said manager Gary Hamilton. “His vast experience will be invaluable and, like myself, his heart has always been with Glenavon.”

The position became available three weeks ago when Nigel Law resigned.

When contacted in Belarus on Tuesday by the Mail, McBride said, “I am happy to be back involved. I got a call out of the blue from Gary and have enjoyed working with the boys over the past few weeks.

“Along with Gary and Paul Millar we will work hard to have a good season.”
