McDaid fires home winner

STRIKER David McDaid scored Derry City’s all important only goal as they deservedly defeated Limerick, at a rain soaked Thomond Park, on Sunday.

The second half substitute made no mistake, when he latched onto fellow sub Sean Houston’s flick-on 70 minutes, drilling the ball home past man of the match Barry Ryan from just inside the box.

City would have won the game by a bigger margin but for the Limerick goalkeeper, who made a host of top draw saves to deny Rory Patterson and Michael Duffy and he even kept out Michael Rafter’s first half penalty.

After the game skipper Kevin Deery, who played the entire 90 minutes at centre-back alongside Ryan McBride after Stewart Greacen picked up a knee injury, spoke to Sentinel Sport’s Editor Kevin McLaughlin.
