Portadown manager Ronnie McFall has slammed speculation over Chris Casement's future - and is adamant no offer has been lodged by Linfield for the defender.

Reports last night (Tuesday) stated that Portadown rejected an initial bid by Linfield for the under-contract player.

However, McFall is baffled by the links and maintains the club policy will remain to preserve the current squad numbers in this January transfer window.

Darren Murray completed his transfer to Cliftonville on Friday but McFall is refusing to entertain additional exits.

“I am baffled by that story as we have not received any enquiries or offers for Chris Casement,” said McFall. “In fact, we have not received any offers for any other player, with the exception of Darren Murray who has now gone to Cliftonville.

“I have not had contact from another club and our chairman, Roy McMahon, would notify me of any offers directly to the board.

“The bottom line is we have not had any offers and, from a squad viewpoint, no-one is for sale in this January transfer window.

“We have had five or six players out for most, if not all, of the season.

“At the minute, I am playing full-backs in the wide positions as we do not have any wingers.

“Chris Ramsey and Peter McMahon, for example, remain long-term injury problems and young players like Shea Conaty and Jordan Lyttle, who we had last season, have not kicked a ball this campaign.

“However, the end of the story is we have not had any offers for Chris Casement or any other player and no-one is for sale in this January window.”
