NEW signing Eddie McIntyre marked his Institute debut with a goal, in their emphatic 5-0 win at Dundela, in Saturday's first round Co-Operative Insurance Cup tie.

However it was an old experienced player in Declan Divin who stole the headlines, capping a fine man of the match display with a goal.

The ex-Ards man was in the thick of things throughout and in truth with a bit more luck could have helped himself to a hat-trick.

'Stute dominated things from the off and they took the lead thanks to a super turn and shot by Joe McCready, which fizzed passed Dundela keeper Fox.

Left winger McIntyre capped his fine debut with a well taken goal just before the half-time break.

To their credit the Championship Two side didn't let their heads drop and they missed a golden chance to get back into the tie early in the second half.

The lively Hill was brought down inside the area in the 61st minute and after dusting himself down the midfielder saw his spot-kick easily saved by Alan Ryan.

Virtually straight away the visitors went up the other end of the pitch and Divin made no mistake nodding the ball past Fox, after the keeper could only parry McCready's initial effort.

A contender for goal of the season came moments later when youngster Conor McShane saw his long range pile driver whistle past Fox and fly high into the net.

Incredibly another contender for goal of the campaign came right at the death courtesy of young striker Matthew Smyth.

Substitute Smyth, who had replaced David McClements earlier, skipped past a few challenges before looking up and calmly lobbing the stranded Fox from fully 30 yards.
