Paul McNeill missed last year's Junior Cup final for Harryville Homers.

The 25-year-old striker was missing from the Homers team in last year’s final as he was getting married in Cyprus and his absence was widely felt as Homers crashed 3-0 to Strathroy Harps.

“Last year was one of those things - we didn’t have any real history in the Junior Cup so I wasn’t even aware of what date the final would have been played and all the wedding plans had been made months earlier.

“The boys told me afterwards that it was the case that we just didn’t turn up on the day of the final.

“But I never thought that my chance was gone - the boys have been determined to get back to the final and go one better.”

Having quit Ballymena United - where he was on the fringes of first team - to drop into the Saturday Morning League, McNeill has been a prolific goalscorer.

“I really enjoy it and it means I can spend more time with my family.

“The whole unit plays for each other and just keeps wanting to go on and win more and more - we all drive each other on.

“Winning the league last year was a big moment for us and we want to keep winning as much as we can,” adds Paul.
