Methodist dump league leaders in Nelson Cup

The league leaders were surprisingly eliminated from the competition by Cullybackey Methodist in last week's opening round.

It wasn't a case either that Cullybackey shaded victory - they racked up more than twice as many shots as Ahoghill in a 57-28 success.

Two rinks in particular excelled for Methodist, with Timothy Rock steering his foursome to a 20-2 success over Tom Morrison, while Nigel Peacock's rink also passed the 20 shot barrier in a 21-8 win over Andrew Morrison.

Cullybackey Methodist 'A' were joined in the next round by Clough 'A', who had a six-shot victory over High Kirk.

Champions Killymurris Glarryford have played only two matches - the hosting of their annual tournament being one of the reasons for their inactivity - and they will have a lot of ground to make up on First Ahoghill 'A', who added four-and-a-half more points to their total, at the expense of their 'B' team club-mates.
