Mid Antrim dominate at Donegore

FIRST Donegore Presbyterian Church Annual Rinks Tournament took place recently with three local Mid Antrim rinks making it through to finals night.

As luck would have it the two rinks which had qualified from 1st Broughshane Pres were drawn against each other at the quarter final stage with David Shields, James Gaston, Andrew Bonnar and George Davidson getting the better of Robert Neeson, David Calderwood, William Adams and Jason Smyth.

The Broughshane rink then defeated C McHugh (Cookstown Parochial) in the semi final and in the final they met the other Mid Antrim rink of Andrew Duncan, David Duncan, Chris Duncan and Joe Smyth (2nd Donegore).

The final was a close affair with Duncan’s rink holding a two shot lead going in to the last end, however a count of three shots in favour of the 1st Broughshane rink saw them snatch victory with the final delivery.
