Midfielder goes on trial

WITH Derry City still currently looking for a new manager, they may also be losing a midfielder.

Talented youngster Barry McNamee went on a week’s trial to Sky Bet League One side Brentford today (Sunday).

Uwe Rosler’s side currently sit in fourth spot in the league and secured an impressive 5-0 win over Crewe, at the weekend.

Just 12 months ago the Donegal man had a trial with Championship out-fit Nottingham Forest, however a move to the City Ground never materialised, but he knuckled down with the Candystripes and forced his way into the Republic of Ireland’s Under 21 squad this year.

If any move to Brentford happens then Derry will receive a fee, as McNamee has one year left on his current deal.

Only a few years ago ex-City winger Niall McGinn joined The Bees on loan from Celtic and his career started to blossom during that time working with Rosler, in fact the Northern Ireland international got a move to Aberdeen following his impressive spell at Griffin Park.
