Milk Cup tournament details announced

Details for the Northern Ireland Dale Farm Milk Cup youth football tournament have been announced, including details about tournament structure and the application process.

Each team will play five games in five days. Qualifying games will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Points will be awarded three points for a win, one point for a draw and none for a defeat. Based on the results of these three games, teams will proceed on Thursday to the semi finals of one of the following Competitions: Milk Cup; Globe; Vase; Bowl; Salver; Shield.

Semi Finals are to be played on Thursday, July 30 and Finals on Friday, July 31, 2015. Teams defeated on Thursday will play third and fourth place matches on Friday, July 31, 2015.

If teams finish level on points after the first three Qualifying games, additional criteria will be used to separate these teams; this criteria will be explained fully in the Tournament Rules, which will be sent out to all participating teams.

Games last 60 minutes (Junior Section) and 70 minutes (Premier Section).

Tournament Structure: (maximum of 8 teams in the Minor Section):

During the period of the tournament each team will play 5 games in 5 days (one game each day). The games in the Minor Section are 60 minutes long, (2 X 30 minutes)

The eight teams will be drawn in two groups of four teams, each team playing the other three teams in the group. Group games are played on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and points will be awarded, 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and no points for a defeat. On the basis of points gained, the top two teams in each group will play in the semi finals of the Dale Farm Milk Cup (winners of Group A will play the runners-up of Group B, the runners-up of Group A will play the winners of Group B).

The two bottom placed teams in each Group will play in the semi finals of the Dale Farm Globe, team placed 3rd in Group A will play team placed 4th in Group B; team placed 4th in Group A will play team placed 3rd in Group B.
