Millar joins as coach

PAUL Millar has this week been added to Gary Hamilton’s back-room staff as an additional coach until the end of the season.

Millar leaves his post as Larne manager to join Hamilton’s staff and will be working for free until the end of the season.

Millar, of course, was manager of Glentoran when Hamilton signed on at the Oval in 2006 but was sacked in May 2007 after his side finished as runner-up to Linfield for the second successive season.

Millar then took over as manager of Bangor before joining Larne in 2008. Larne are currently sitting in 12th spot in the Belfast Telegraph Championship One.

Hamilton is delighted to have Millar on board at Glenavon as his side battle relegation.

“Paul will bring a fresh approach and a different voice to keep the boys on their toes,” said Hamilton.

“I have been looking to bring Paul in for some time but with Larne being involved in two Cup competitions he didn’t want to leave them, now those are out of the way he feels he has brought Larne as far as he could and he has agreed to join us until the end of the season. I don’t have any budget left so he has agreed to work for nothing and we will review the situation when we see where we are at the end of the season.”

Pat McAllister remains as assistant manager whilst Nigel Law continues as coach.
