MONEYSLANE’S U11s girls played at Cookstown recently.

The long journey did not seem to faze the young girls who played three games on the day, excelling in all exhibitions with another three high goal scoring wins.

Lurgan ‘B’ 1 Slane 4

The first game of the afternoon was against Lurgan ‘B’. The Slane girls started brightly and were soon ahead when Sophie Megaw rounded the keeper to make it 1-0 with a simple tap into the net.

Slane were soon two up when Sophie once again placed the ball in to the bottom corner. Lurgan pulled one back in the last few seconds of the first half which was to be the only goal Slane conceded the whole day.

The second half got underway and Slane went further ahead when Laura Adams and Chloe Megaw combined in the middle to find Chloe Davidson free and she slotted the ball under the keeper for a well worked goal.

Sasha Martin was sensational for Slane in nets, commanding the rear guard and keeping the opposition out.

Slane then made it four when Megan Davis picked up the loose ball, kept driving forward and she coolly slipped the ball between the keeper’s legs for a superb goal.

Lurgan ‘A’ 0 Slane 4

The Slane girls got a rest before they played Lurgan ‘A’ and they were on top from start to finish with some lovely football being played.

Laura Adams was controlling things in the middle of the park and she set Sophie Megaw through with an inch perfect pass for Slane’s first goal of this game with a fine shot which went in off the post.

Sasha Martin was great at the back with some great tackles and was unlucky not to score herself when she beat two players only to see her effort go the wrong side of the post.

The second goal was much the same as the first one only this time Sophie shot hit the opposite post and the ball nested in the back of the net for 2-0.

In the second half once again Adams controlled things in the middle of the park and when the Megaw sisters combined to find Adams she fired in a thunderous shot into the top corner to make it three, giving the stranded keeper no chance.

The fourth goal came about when Sophie Megaw found Megan Davis in acres of space and she rounded the keeper to slot home.

Once again the girls were on top from the first whistle and played neat football all over the park. Player of the match was Laura Adams.

Wave after wave of Slane attacks resulted in a second goal, and once again Chloe Davidson found the back of the net with a well taken solo effort.

Just before half time a goal mouth scramble found Sophie Megaw who tapped the ball in to make it 3-0. Again Sasha Martin was pulling out a fine display for Slane with her courageous saves and hard work rate.

In the second half Slane remained on top and were soon four up when Chloe Megaw whipped in a great ball and Adams was there to fire it into the back of the net with precision and power.
