Moore shines as Coleraine win North West Cup

Craig Moore grabbed his big chance to impress Coleraine boss Oran Kearney in last night’s North West Cup final at the Showgrounds.

Moore found himself among the substitutes when the team list was finalised but he was handed his opportunity to start when striker Aaron Boyd picked up a groin injury in the warm up.

Moore took less than three minutes to underscore his credentials as he stepped up to score the opening goal, comfortably slotting the ball past keeper Corey Wilson from inside the box to pave the way for the Bannsiders’ victory.

The result ended Stute’s hopes of completing a hat-trick of consecutive wins in the competition.

Flying winger Joel Bradley doubled Coleraine’s lead from the edge of the box in the 25th minute as Institute’s defence folded.

But the Drumahoe side enjoyed a spell of pressure when home keeper Gavin Cullen was forced to make two saves and Michael McCrudden fired a shot over the bar.

Impressive Hugo Batista put the result beyond doubt with a looping shot to secure Coleraine’s third in the second half. His lob completely caught out keeper WIlson.
