More silverware for Northend boys

WITH the 2009/10 youth football season now completed, it was the turn for the Senior Prize Night to take centre stage in the Northend calendar.

With all of the teams going for a well deserved break, pre-season training will begin again towards the end of July.

The second Prize Night of the season kicked off on Saturday 22nd May with the U12, U13 and U14 teams receiving their awards.

The Michelin Clubrooms were again packed to capacity for this event with many parents and supporters attending.

Highlight of the night was a poem from the Bard of Northend, Johnny Sayers.

The main awards were:-

Under-12: Most Improved - Przemyslaw Nowak, Leo Morgan; Best Trainer - Adrian Dubyna; Clubman of the Year - Krystian Jaworski; Goal of the Year - Leo Morgan; Top Goalscorer - Ciaran Neeson; Young Player of the Year - Jack Dawson; Players' Player of the Year - Anthony O'Neill; Player of the Year - Anthony O'Neill.

Under-13: Most improved - Michael Laverty; Best Trainer - Dylan Hamill; Clubman of the Year - Stefan McLees; Player of Ayr Tournament - Jamie Speirs; Goal of the Year - Caolan Tierney; Top Goalscorer - Matthew Mulholland; Players' Player of the Year - Niall Swann, Matthew Mulholland; Player of the Year - Jamie Speirs.

Under-14: Most Improved - Aidan Hughes, Brendan Lynas; Best Trainer - Dylan Little; Clubman of the Year - Conan Dunne; Player of Ayr Tournament - Sean McCann; Goal of the Year - Ryan Douds; Top Goalscorer - Ryan McIlroy; Young Player of the Year - Thomas Brady; Players' Player of the Year - Emmet Kerr, Ryan McIllroy; Player of the Year - Declan McAfee, Mark Robinson.

Special Award - Kathleen Gordon Memorial Shield: Przemyslaw Nowak.

Sports Personality of the Year for Club: Ben Sempey, Ryan Douds.

Captains Jamie Speirs and Ryan McIllroy, of the successful U13 and U14 teams, were presented with the Scotland Cup Ayr Tournament Plates on behalf of the rest of their team colleagues by Northend's John Devlin.

The Northend United End of Season Draw for two tickets, flights and accommodation to any Manchester United home match was won by Przemyslaw Nowak of the U12 Team.

GEORGE BEST COMMUNITY CUP

Northend United Youth's U13 team entered this prestigious pre-season competition which is taking place in Belfast from 16th to 18th July. With fifty percent of participants coming from the UK Mainland or Republic of Ireland, this again pushes Northend up against the elite teams from far and near.

MINI SOCCER ACADEMY

The Mini Soccer Academy concluded on Frida at Dunfane Pitch 1. An enjoyable last evening was had by all the players, with the highlight of the night, the match between the P1 and P2's. What a talented group of boys these are!

The Mini Soccer Academy is breaking now for the summer months and will recommence towards the end of September.

The final Prize Evening, for the Mini Soccer Academy, is again being held in the Michelin Club on Saturday 29th May, commencing at 2pm
