More to come from Bates

GUY Bates is confident that his strike partnership with Gary Hamilton will go from strength to strength this season.

The former Newcastle United forward picked up his second goal of the league season on Saturday while Hamilton lifted the Man of the Match award.

It was surely a case of a job well done for the impressive front duo but Bates reckons they have a lot more in store for Blues’ fans to look forward to.

“I wouldn’t say we’ve even got the partnership there just yet,” say Guy.

“We’re working hard and hopefully we’ll keep going from strength to strength and getting better and better.

“We’ve been saying from the start that if we can keep clean sheets we’ll cause any team problems going forward.

“Goals will always come between Gary and me. I think the three points is more important than me scoring the goal though.

“I thought Gary was outstanding on Saturday and even though we may not have been contributing goals in the first few games, we’ve been contributing with putting in hard work for the team.”

Bates has certainly been quickly winning over the hearts of Glenavon fans with his hard-working and skilful displays up top. “Gary and I have set targets in conversation but we’ll keep that between ourselves.”
