Mossley boss Campbell to face old club 18th

It’s derby day at Mossley on Saturday where the visitors will be neighbours, 18th Newtownabbey Old Boys.

Mossley boss Garry Campbell, of course, is an ex-18th manager and there could be that extra spice this time with Garry having snapped up 18th’s main goal threat, Ross Miskimmin.

It’s fair to say that both teams have been in better form; 18th have no wins in their last six outings, while Mossley have won just one of their last five, having to be content with a 1-1 draw in Saturday’s’ trip to Dromore Amateurs.

It was Dromore who set the wheels rolling with an early penalty. Mossley had their chances, notably through Darren Cosby, whose head for heights was posing problems for the Amateurs – before deservedly drawing level after the break; new boy Miskimmin knocking on a Gareth McKinney free-kick for Kyle Crowe to do the needful.

From there on in, Mossley came the closest to winning it but one of their ‘Newtownabbey old boys’, Ricky Moore fluffed his lines when just the keeper to beat.

“It’s one we should have won, but it’s hard to get up and running again after Christmas. At least we battled back after going a goal down,” said Campbell.
