Moyola Park return to earth with a PSNI inflicted bump

After the euphoria of last week’s 4-0 victory against Lurgan Celtic it was back down to earth with a bump at Newforge for Moyola Park.

Last week’s result was reversed in a one-sided game which PSNI dominated for most of the 90 minutes.

However it was Moyola that came closest to opening the scoring when a Chris Dowie snapshot was cleared off the PSNI goal line.

After 19 minutes Lucas Adamsyk gave the home side the lead as he clinically slotted the ball past Gareth Maguire, the visitor’s ‘keeper, following a fast flowing move by the ‘Peelers’.

Adamsyk was on target 5 minutes later from the penalty spot to double the PSNI lead. Gareth Maguire, who had a relatively easy ride against Lurgan Celtic the previous Saturday, had to be at the top of his form on two occasions to prevent former Moyola Park player Peter Steele from adding to the Newforge side’s tally before the halftime interval.

Former Glentoran player, Ryan Berry added to the PSNI score line, again from the penalty spot, in the 67th minute.

The introduction of substitutes Michael Walsh, Damien Maguire and Steven Kenning didn’t change the game in the way the visitors would have hoped and four minutes from time Steele crossed the ball from the left side of the penalty area for Tyson Gray to snatch the final goal of the game at the back post.

To add insult to injury Moyola Park’s Eugene Gallagher was red carded following a second yellow card in the final minute of the game as a result of a fracas on the touchline the outcome of which ironically was a free kick for the visitors.

Moyola Park: Gareth Maguire, Lucas, Walls, McQuillan, Waddell, Doey, Gallagher, Paul, Dowie, Sean McConnell, Curtis. Substitutes: Kenning, Damian Maguire, Colgan, Stephen McConnell and Walsh

Moyola Park’s next home fixture in the NI Football Championship Two is on Saturday 7th September at 3.00pm when Killymoon Rangers provide the opposition.
