Murphy joins Glenavon on one year deal
WILLIAM Murphy has joined Glenavon on a one year contract.
The 39-year-old had been tipped to hang up his boots after playing his 639th and final game for Linfield a few weeks ago after a 16 year career at Windsor Park, but he has been persuaded into one more year by Gary Hamilton.
Last week Hamilton snapped up striker David Rainey, wingers Adam Foley and Mark Patton in his bid to strengthen the panel for next season.
Murphy may be 39, but he is still a commanding figure and played 44 games for Linfield this season showing he can be a major asset for the Lurgan Blues.
