Murphy targets big 600 after new deal

WILLIAM Murphy has his sights set on making 600 appearances for Linfield after agreeing a new one year contract with the Blues.

“At my age you start to wonder is this the end of the road so to be offered another year is just fantastic. Long may it continue and I can assure everyone I’ll be going out next year trying to replicate and indeed do even better than we did this year,” said William.

“I need a few games to bring up my 600th, the team winning is obviously more important than any personal milestone that I may have up my sleeve, but it will be nice if it comes along.

Stephen Douglas and Damien Curran also agreed new one year deals this week, but leaving the club are goalkeeper Stuart Addis, Marcus Kane and Neil Dougan.

“It is very difficult when you have to let people go and I really had to think long and hard on these decisions,” said manager David Jeffrey.

Linfield return to training on June 18 in prepration for their Champions League ties which will be played on July 3.
