Rangers won a free kick for a foul on Stephen Gass and the Knockmenagh keeper pushed the ball out of play.

From the resulting corner Sam Boyd put his side ahead with a close range finish at the back post.

Rangers doubled their lead when Freddie McKelvey met a pinpoint Greg Douglas free kick with a deft glancing header and the ball flew into the far corner of the net.

Knockmenagh Swifts reduced the deficit to 2-1 and before the half time whistle Stuart Wilson saved well to prevent an equaliser.

The home side restored the two goal cushion in the second half when Sam Boyd controlled a Philip Magill cross and skilfully curled the ball into the corner of the net.

The next goal of the game was scored by Knockmenagh, a penalty to make it 3-2 and ensure an anxious closing period for Rangers and their supporters.
