New Distillery boss to be appointed soon

LISBURN Distillery chairman Jim Greer says a new manager will be appointed within two weeks.

Speaking to the Ulster Star, Mr Greer said the vacant post will be discussed at a meeting with fellow board members on Wednesday night.

“It is important to move quickly,” said the chairman. “We have players out of contact and we want to get the new man in quickly to allow us to plan ahead for next season.”

The Whites retained their Premiership status after a nervous 3-2 win at Newry City last Friday night. Later manager John Cunningham departed the club by mutual consent.

“After the departure of Tommy Wright both John and Glenn Ferguson were given the job until the end of the season. We had a talk with John and both he and the club decided it was best to part company. We thank John for all his hard work. The important thing for us is that we remain in the top flight and now we can move on.”
