New teams in league

THE Mid-Ulster Juvenile League kicks off this Saturday with 18 teams competing for honours.

And the success of teams in the league last season has attracted greater interest for the new campaign.

Armagh City won the Harry Cavan Youth Cup last season after defeated Glenavon Youth in the semi-final and Cliftonville on penalties in the final.

In fact Lurgan Celtic just missed out on making it an all Mid-Ulster final when they lost to Cliftonville in the semi-final.

This success has brought interest from clubs like Ballinamallard United, Annagh United, Cookstown Youth, Ballymoney Youth and three teams from the Newry area to pit their skills against the teams that as made up the league over the last few seasons.

The league will be made up into two sections of eight teams in section A and 10 teams in section B with promotion and relegation.

The season kicks off with the George Savage Cup which will be played in a group basis.
