Newington ended last season with Davy Rollo in charge. After his departure, Jamie McGarel was appointed as the new man at the helm. He handed the reins to Geordie Lynn who passed them on to Stephen Holland before Graham McConnell came back to see things out for the rest of the season.

“We have just four games left so we’re concentrating our efforts on finding a new manager,” explained the former Wellington Rec boss.

“We’re hoping to have someone in before the end of the season and we’re trying to reform our committee to try and get the club on a steady footing.

“I’m just there as manager in the short-term, helping out my old club, although I’ll remain on the committee. We’re trying to use Larne Tech Old Boys as our model. I think they’re the best run club in the town, so well organised off the pitch. It’s something we very much aspire to.”

“I have joined the committee to help out chairman Steven McClean, ‘Mr. Newington Rangers’.”
