News from the sidelines

MONEYSLANE U11 girls travelled to Cookstown for their final day of the Northern Ireland Junior Girls League but this time they took two teams, hoping to show their strength and dominance, such is the depth the squad of girls in the club.

First up was Slane ‘A’ against Fivemiletown and from the start they went one up through Megan Davis. Soon they were two up when Sophie Megaw found the back of the net with a well taken goal. The second half in was all Fivemiletown and they scored two to draw the game

First for Slane ‘B’ was Sion Mills and this turned into a route for Slane who went 4-0 up in the first half with two apiece from Laura Adams and Chloe Davidson.

The second half was even better for Slane, scoring six more goals through Andrea Stevenson (1), Victoria Davidson (2), Adams (2) and Sasha Martin (1).

Slane ‘A’ then played Sion Mills and again this was all one way traffic with six goals in the first half coming from the boots of Sophie Megaw, who got three early on, and Megan Davis with three before Sion pulled one back at half time.

The second half was all Slane once again with Lara Gibson getting two on her debut. Robyn Hanna got two more for Slane and Chloe Megaw finished the scoring off to make it 10-1.

Slane ‘B’ played Fivemiletown next. They showed their class when Adams put Martin through on goal and she finished off with a neat goal to go one up. Adams scored a brace along with Chloe Davidson also hitting a brace to make it 5-0 at the interval.

The second half was much the same as the first and Andrea Stevenson got two and Sasha Martin finished off a fine display with a well taken goal.

Finally both teams played each other and it was end to end stuff with Slane ‘B’ taking their chances. Sasha Martin was in lethal form getting two and Andrea Stevenson got the other to make it 3-0 at the break.

The second half was all Slane ‘A’ and they got back into the game when Megan Davis found the back of the net.

Lara Gibson made it two and Chloe Megaw got the equaliser just at the death.

Big thanks go to the parents and Coaches for their help on the day and a massive thanks to the IFA for successfully running the league for the girls.
