NI Cup hoping to announce new sponsor this month

Northern Ireland Cup chairman, Victor Leonard, has told Times Sport that they hope to be in a position to name the tournament’s new sponsor this month.

The leading youth football tournament has been on the look out for a new partner after the Dairy Council brought their 30-year sponsorship to an end last October.

The committee have been working hard over the last few months speaking to a lot of interested parties. Speaking last week Victor told Times Sport that they were close to making a decision.

“We have been working really hard over the last few weeks speaking to a lot of interested parties,” said Victor.

“We have received a fantastic response from a lot of interesting parties but we a close to making a decision on who we will be working with.

“Hopefully that should happen by the end of this month, we just have a couple of things to finalise and then we should be in a position to make a formal announcement.

“Again I would like to go on record to thank the Dairy Council for their input and support over the last three decades.

“We had a fantastic working relationship with them and still do, their support helped make the tournament what it is today.

“But this is another exciting chapter for us. We are looking at a few new things for this year such as the possibility of a second week.

“It’s all go at the moment as we prepare for it.”
