No fun day out at the seaside for Tobermore

Bangor 5

Tobermore United 0

CHAMPIONSHIP 1 can be an unforgiving league and Tobemore United felt the wrath of Frankie Wilson’s Bangor at Clandeboye Park on Saturday. Bangor took their chances while United wasted a number of decent opportunities early on.

The absence of Lamont, McClements and McComb meant that Tobermore resources were stretched and it was just one of those days for the Fortwilliam Park outfit.

Boss Oliver McAuley will look to take stock of his panel over the summer and if United are to improve their league position, a few signings would be expected over the summer.

United should have opened the scoring in the first ten minutes. However, both of their efforts went wide. Bangor proved why they are sitting in 3rd place in the table as with their first attack Garth Scates slotted home from a penalty.

Both sides had chances as the half wore on but disaster struck for Tobermore on the stroke of halftime when a mix up between Ciaran McKenna and Sammy Foster handed Bangor their second.

This seemed to rattle the visitors and Bradley added number three on 52 minutes after a scramble inside the box.

On 60 minutes both sides were reduced to 10 men when Tobermore’s Peter Spratt reacted to a bad tackle by Whitmore.

Six minutes Bangor scored number 4 when Stuart finished a fine move. The same player scored Bangor’s 5th in the 73rd minute after Foster saved bravely from Morrow which saw the stopper stretchered off with knee ligament problems.

Willie Hassan replaced Foster in goals and did well to keep the visitors from adding to the score line.
