No signs of rustiness for U16sOWN
TOWN Juniors Under-16s played their first game in a few weeks so it was understandable why they made a slow start in this contest against near neighbours Lurgan Town.

Hide AdThis was also the Juniors last game before their big Shield Final so the management were looking for a good performance to keep confidence high within the camp.
The first 15 minutes of the first half proved difficult as Town struggled to get their passing game flowing, however the deadlock was broken on 25 minutes when David Gray crossed to lone striker Finn Campbell who in turn slipped the ball through to the incoming Michael Jordan who then shrugged off a Lurgan defender and placed the ball into the bottom corner.
This goal gave Town a confidence boost they needed and they began to show why they went into the Christmas period top of the table. Finn Campbell soon added a second as he pounced onto Josh Buchanan’s great pass through the Lurgan defence.

Hide AdTown further increased their lead 10 minutes into the second half when Stephen McCavitt crossed with great accuracy towards Josh Cargin, who headed past the Lurgan goalkeeper to make it 3-0.
Lurgan grabbed one back when their striker launched the ball into the top corner of the net to give the locals a bit of a scare but this goal proved only a minor consolation as Town dominated the closing stages of the game and were unlucky not to score more.
Next up for the Juniors is the final against Glentoran on New Years Day.
